Setting up the perfect party is never easy!

GAMES:
Charades is one of the most basic games to play - and yet can be one of the most exciting. Why not choose a theme for the game - like animals? Write down the names of various animals and put them into a bowl. Divide everyone into teams, with an adult overseeing them. Each player takes it in turns to pick an animal out of the bowl. They then have to demonstrate how each animal behaves and the opposing team has to guess which animal they are supposed to be. Obviously, the team with the most correct guesses wins!

Or how about this exciting game? Everyone gets together in pairs: one person in each pair picks a drawing of an object from the bowl and sticks it on their partner’s back. That partner then asks them questions about the object and has to guess what it is – for instance, it might be a tree, or a cloud. For every correct guess, there is a prize.

FOOD AND DRINK:
Rather than making all the party snacks yourself, get the young revellers to give you a hand! Not only is this really exciting, but they also learn something too. The trick is to keep everything simple. Prepare some bowls of goodies beforehand, and a bundle of cocktail sticks. Then everyone can choose their own crazy combinations. Or cut up pieces of fruit so each guest can make their own individual fruit salad! Plenty of supervision and small groups will ensure this doesn’t get out of hand.

ACTIVITIES:
Painting and drawing is fantastic, because it gives everyone a souvenir to take home. Picking a theme is always a good way of getting people going, or you can just let their imaginations run wild! If you’re feeling really brave, you could always lay down some cardboard on the floor and do some hand and feet painting. Of course, anything involving the risk of paint on furniture requires a fair bit of supervision!
