Home : Make & Do : Pirate Face Paint

1. Get hairy!
Mix black and white paints to make gray. With fingers, lightly dab grey paint in smudges from the chin to the upper cheeks-stopping mid-ear. This will give your little pirate that unshaven look.

2. Paint an Eyepatch
Using a medium paintbrush, paint a diagonal line, the eyepatch "strap" in black from the upper left edge of your child's forehead to the inside tip of the right eye brow. Next, circle the right eye using a smaller paintbrush, or a sponge. Take care not to get too close to the eye. Continue the strap from outside of circle to child's ear.

3.Add a moustache
Draw 2 thick, black, curly lines with a medium paintbrush starting from above the lips towards the cheek, curling the line up towards the eyes at each end to form a curly moustache

4. Walk The Plank
For finishing touches, add a bandanna, and a clip-on gold hoop earring. Kids with missing teeth have especially good pirate grins!

• Medium paintbrush
• Small paintbrush or makeup sponge
• Black and white watercolour paints or face crayons
• Bandanna, clip-on gold hoop earring

Your Child Will Learn

• Choose water-based paints for easy clean-up.
• Have your child wash face with soap and cold water, then apply a thin layer of cold cream, moisturizer or Vaseline.
• Minimize squirming: Hang something interesting on the wall for your child to focus on while you paint. Or pop in a video.
