Suggested System Requirements
NickJr.co.uk is best viewed using Netscape 4.0 or Internet
Explorer 4.0 or higher. On a PC, the recommended minimum set-up
is Windows 95, Pentium 166 processor with 64mb of RAM, at
a screen resolution of 800x600 in 16-bit colour. Anything
higher than this is fine – whatever works for you. Similarly
on a Macintosh, a PowerPC processor is best, with MacOS System
7.1.2 or higher, 32mb of RAM, and a screen resolution of 800x600
with thousands of colours.
Browsers
A browser is the software program that lets you surf the Web.
You're using a browser right now to visit us at NickJr.co.uk,
but you probably already knew that. To make our site exciting
and useful we use some features that are only available in
recent versions of the popular web browsers. If you're not
running at least Netscape Navigator 4.0, or Internet Explorer
version 4.0 or higher, we recommend that you download and
install the latest update:
Click here to go to the Netscape download site
the Microsoft download site
Macintosh users, please note that you'll need Netscape Navigator
4.0 or above, or Internet Explorer version 5.O. Unfortunately,
any earlier version of Internet Explorer does not work with
the Macromedia Flash Player on a Macintosh.
AOL Users
If you use AOL, we recommend you use AOL Version 4.0 or above.
If you use AOL Version 3.0, you'll need Netscape Navigator
4.0 or Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher as your Web browser.
To upgrade to a higher version of AOL, go to keyword UPGRADE
on AOL.
Plugins
A plug-in is an additional module for your browser, which
allows it to play music and video. Plug-ins make web pages
more interesting, and make life easier for everyone since
your browser can often download and install them automatically,
saving you the trouble.
If you don’t have them already, or they don’t
seem to work, you may need to download and install two plug-ins
that we use most often on our site – Macromedia Shockwave
and the Flash Player. These help your browser run our games
and display the animated features. Our site will tell you
when and if you need these or need to update them.
Both browsers and plug-ins are free - you just need to have
a bit of patience and be online to download them. How long
it takes depends on the speed of your internet connection.
Blue's Clues Games
Many of the Blue's Clues games on NickJr.co.uk require the
Shockwave plug-in but for additional troubleshooting information,
check the Macromedia site
Sound & Video
With an eye to the future, soon we hope to introduce video
clips to the site, and some video clips may require an additional
plug-in to play. Our plug-in of choice is Windows Media Player
– and despite the name you can get a version for the
Mac too, so hopefully nobody is left out.
