Education and Learning
Now your pre-schoolers can learn and explore just like Dora the Explorer!
Dora the Explorer has been exploring new places, meeting new friends, introducing new languages and entertaining pre-schoolers for over 10 years. When used as a stimulus for discussion, role-play or activity, her interactive show enables children to practice many of the skills required to actively engage in early years learning:
- Responding to what they see and hear.
- Using their imaginations.
- Expressing and communicating ideas, thoughts and feelings.
Using Dora the Explorer's adventures as a theme for learning, the Nick Jr. Help Dora Help Activity Pack and Award Fund has been specially created to support early year’s development goals and provide fun, motivational and stimulating learning opportunities.
Learning through Exploration
Let's explore! ¡Vamos a explorer!
Children learn by doing, thinking, exploring and interacting with others. This resource supports the EYFS curriculum by building on Dora’s ability to capture the imagination of pre-schoolers and focusing on her key traits; exploration, powers of observation, sense of curiosity and ability to work with her friends to solve problems. The activities included within the Help Dora Help activity pack and award application all aim to give children in your setting the opportunity to use a range of these skills. Using real-life and imaginary situations, children can engage with a range of opportunities for learning through spontaneous and purposeful play, investigating and exploring and focused learning and teaching.
The Help Dora Help Award Fund has been created to facilitate learning and discovery in a very real way. It will grant one main award of up to £20,000 to help a pre-school, nursery or playgroup improve their facilities to help learning, development and exploration plus runners up packages of discovery and learning equipment to help little explorers across pre-school settings in the UK.
Preschools, nurseries and playgroups have told us how the Help Dora Help Award Fund could help them make a real difference to how children in their setting can have fun while learning, exploring and developing! For example, the Award Fund could provide children with a fantastic day of adventure, create a sensorial play room, or provide outdoor equipment for them to physically explore.
The Help Dora Help Award Fund will enable pre-school settings achieve some amazing things.
